Brandy and orange liqueur with lemon is a Sidecar, and the Sidecar is arguably the cleanest sour ever written: three ingredients, no syrup, and the sweetness coming entirely from the liqueur.
The ratio is contested and worth experimenting with. The French school is equal parts, the English 2:1:1. Start at 2:1:1 and add brandy if it reads too sweet.
