Black Rose

A compact, bourbon-forward sipper where rich oak and caramel notes are brightened by a touch of grenadine and the anise-high bite of Peychaud's bitters. Visually it settles into a deep amber with a ruby hint at the base, finished with an aromatic burst from the flamed lemon peel. Worth trying if you like simple, spirit-led cocktails with a subtle sweet-and-bitter complexity and a showy citrus flame.

Ingredients

  • 1 dash Grenadine
  • 2 dashes Peychaud's® Bitters
  • 2 oz Bourbon

Instructions

  1. Start by adding grenadine syrup to an old-fashioned glass.
  2. Add the Peychaud® bitters to the glass.
  3. Pour in bourbon whiskey over the grenadine and bitters mixture.
  4. Fill the glass three-quarters full with ice.
  5. Stir the mixture gently to combine all the flavors.
  6. Garnish with a flamed lemon peel and serve the drink.
