Du Barry Cocktail

Crisp and spirit-forward, this is a dry gin cocktail brightened by a whisper of anise and rounded with a dash of aromatic bitters. It pours clear and pale into a chilled cocktail glass with an orange slice adding a fresh citrus aroma and a touch of color. Worth trying if you like classic, slightly savory martini-style drinks with a licorice-tinted twist.

Ingredients

  • 1.5 oz Gin
  • 0.75 oz Dry Vermouth
  • 0.5 tsp Anise
  • 1 dash Aromatic Bitters

Instructions

  1. Chill a cocktail glass by filling it with ice water while preparing the drink.
  2. In a mixing glass, add the gin, dry vermouth, anis, and bitters.
  3. Fill the mixing glass with ice cubes.
  4. Stir gently and consistently until the mixture is well-chilled.
  5. Empty the ice water from the cocktail glass.
  6. Strain the mixed ingredients into the chilled cocktail glass.
  7. Garnish with a fresh slice of orange by placing it on the rim or dropping it into the glass.
  8. Serve immediately.
