Gin Cup

Bright lemon and cooling mint brighten a pronounced gin backbone, yielding a refreshing, slightly tart sip with herbaceous aromatics. Served over shaved ice it looks frosty and inviting, with a mint sprig adding fresh perfume, great for a hot afternoon or a brisk aperitif. Its simplicity makes it an easy, satisfying pour that showcases the gin.

Ingredients

  • 3 oz Gin
  • 1 tsp Sugar Syrup
  • 0.75 oz Lemon Juice
  • 3 leaves Mint Leaves

Instructions

  1. Place the mint leaves and sugar syrup at the bottom of an old-fashioned glass and gently press them with a muddler to release the flavors of the mint.
  2. Add chopped or shaved ice to the glass to fill it up.
  3. Pour the lemon juice and gin over the ice and stir the mixture thoroughly to chill the drink and combine the ingredients.
  4. Continue stirring until a light frost forms on the exterior of the glass, indicating the drink is well chilled.
  5. Garnish the drink with an extra mint sprig for added aroma and visual appeal. Serve immediately.
