Cognac Coupling

A bold, slightly sweet and anise-accented cocktail where warm cognac and tawny port are lifted by a touch of lemon and Pernod's licorice note. It pours a deep amber color over ice and is worth trying for anyone who enjoys rich, complex after-dinner drinks with a herbal bite.

Ingredients

  • 2 oz Cognac
  • 1 oz Tawny Port
  • 0.5 oz Pernod®
  • 3 dashes Peychaud's® Bitters
  • 1 tsp Lemon Juice

Instructions

  1. Fill a cocktail shaker halfway with ice cubes.
  2. Pour the cognac, tawny port, Pernod® licorice liqueur, Peychaud® bitters, and fresh lemon juice into the shaker.
  3. Shake the mixture well until chilled.
  4. Strain the mixture into an old-fashioned glass half-filled with fresh ice cubes.
  5. Present and serve immediately.
