Texas Sunset

A bright, fruit-forward highball that balances zesty orange and lemon with a sweet apricot note and a rum-driven backbone. It pours a warm orange hue with a dramatic red grenadine layer settling at the bottom, giving a sunset effect; the small amount of egg adds a slight silkiness to the texture. Worth trying if you like tropical, boozy cocktails that look as festive as they taste.

Ingredients

  • 0.75 oz White Rum
  • 0.5 oz Apricot Brandy
  • 0.5 oz Bacardi® 151 Rum
  • 2 oz Orange Juice
  • 1 oz Lemon Juice
  • 0.5 oz Sugar Syrup
  • 1 tsp Egg
  • 0.75 oz Grenadine

Instructions

  1. Add all ingredients except the grenadine to a shaker filled three-quarters with broken ice.
  2. Shake briefly to combine the ingredients.
  3. Pour the mixture unstrained into a Collins glass.
  4. Gently sprinkle grenadine over the top of the drink.
  5. Serve without stirring to maintain the layered effect.
