Absinthe Czech Ritual

A bold, herbaceous sip of classic absinthe softened by caramelized brown sugar, anise, wormwood and green herbal notes are brightened by a touch of sweet burnt-sugar complexity. Visually theatrical: a green spirit with caramel threads and a slight cloudy louche after water is added, making it worth trying for both the flavor and ritual.

Ingredients

  • 2 oz Absinthe
  • 1 tsp Brown Sugar
  • 2-4 oz Water

Instructions

  1. Pour absinthe into a parfait glass, filling it three-quarters full.
  2. Place a perforated spoon with a brown sugar cube over the glass.
  3. Wet the sugar cube by pouring the remaining absinthe over it.
  4. Carefully ignite the sugar cube, allowing it to melt and caramelize into the absinthe.
  5. Gently stir the caramelized sugar completely into the absinthe.
  6. Add the desired amount of water to the glass and stir again until well combined.
  7. Serve promptly and enjoy.
