Ingredients
- 1 cup Blanched Almonds
- 12 Cardamom Pods
- 12 Whole Cloves
- 6 sticks Cinnamon Stick
- 1 Orange Peel
- 1 bottle Red Wine
- 1 cup Raisins
- 1 bottle Brandy
- 1 cup Sugar Cubes
Instructions
- Place cardamom seeds, cinnamon sticks, cloves, and orange peel into a nylon bag and secure the top.
- In a large saucepan, combine the spice bag, half of the wine, and the raisins. Cover and simmer gently for 15 minutes.
- Add the remaining wine and the blanched almonds to the pot. Gently heat the mixture through.
- In a separate saucepan, gently warm about one-third of the brandy. Add the crushed sugar cubes and ignite with a match to dissolve the sugar.
- Once the sugar has melted, add the remaining brandy to the mixture. If flames persist, extinguish by covering with a lid.
- Pour the sugar-brandy mixture into the wine mixture and stir well to combine.
- Serve the Glogg in Irish coffee cups, ensuring each serving includes raisins and almonds.
